Shifting your perception to experience empathy is a way to stop the monkey mind by shifting your perception from yourself to feel compassion, warmth and understanding for others outside of yourself. (You can even shift to feeling empathy for yourself.)
Empathy occurs outside of the head mind. Empathy comes from the heart, so shift your attention there and feel compassion for others from your heart center.
